LOVEPAWS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in good standing in the state of Maryland. We are 100% unpaid volunteer-run. All donations are tax-deductible and go towards the care of the animals in our rescue and animals we assist in our community to keep them with their families and out of overcrowded shelters.
General Donations
Your donation goes towards supporting our mission of helping dogs and cats in our rescue and animals in our community.
LOVEPAWS is an animal rescue and community outreach organization based in the DMV area — serving Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia. We work to keep pets out of the Prince George’s and Montgomery County shelters through our pantry and other community services. We also advocate for the pit bulls at the Prince George’s County shelter by placing them in foster homes and finding them loving fur-ever families.

Used, abused, and bred for years, Rayna was eventually discarded at an overcrowded kill shelter- underweight, uncomfortable, and carrying the physical scars of years of neglect. Her skin and ears were in terrible condition, her teeth were broken and painful, and her body was covered in concerning lumps and masses.
When LOVEPAWS rescued her, Rayna finally had a chance to learn what it meant to simply be a dog. No more puppies. No more being used. Just a chance to feel safe, loved, and wanted.
That second chance came with a long medical journey. Rayna underwent surgery to remove multiple masses, including two grade 2 mast cell tumors and a grade 1 mammary adenocarcinoma. She also needed extensive dental surgery and ongoing treatment for the severe skin and allergy issues that had been torturing her for years.
Through it all, Rayna has remained incredibly sweet and resilient. Somehow, after everything humans have put her through, she still believes people are worth loving. LOVEPAWS has spent more than $12,000 on her medical care so far, because Rayna’s life matters.
LOVEPAWS wants to keep saying yes to dogs like Rayna- the ones who have been failed over and over again but still have so much love left to give. But we can’t do that without your support.

Jackie's Fund
Jackie Farry adopted two pit bulls, Mary and Ruby, from LOVEPAWS — both rescued from the Prince George’s County Animal Shelter and victims of the County’s pit bull ban. A devoted dog lover, Jackie created a fund to help “PG pitties,” especially those with medical needs. Though she passed away in January 2025, her legacy continues through this fund supporting pit bulls in need.

Thankfully, we were able to secure foster homes for all of them. Now comes the next critical step: providing the veterinary care they need to grow into healthy, adoptable cats. In the coming months, these families will require wellness exams, vaccinations, testing, microchips, and spay/neuter surgeries. The costs add up quickly, but every kitten and every mom deserves the chance to thrive in a loving forever home.
