Our current volunteer needs
Administrative
& Support
Perform background checks on the applications and document results for review.
Serve as the bridge between our foster animals, their foster families, and new potential adopters. This role provides ongoing support and guidance to our fosters to ensure they have everything they need to set their foster dog/cat up for success. You’ll get to know our foster animals well and help match them to the perfect forever home. This role includes ongoing (often daily) communication with fosters. Fully remote.

Research or provide administrative duties as needed.
Research and coordinate dog training and behavior support for our dogs in foster homes.
Write cute, compelling and creative animal profiles for our website.
Fundraising
& Events
Research dog-friendly events and venues in your area and coordinate event logistics.
Research grant opportunities and apply as needed.
Help us raise funds for our foster animals by helping design sets for photo-themed fundraising events (i.e.,Photos with Santa, Photos with the Easter Bunny).
Research event and business sponsorshop opportunities.
You’ll keep them leashed and close to you, help manage introductions with people and other dogs, answer basic questions about them (the team will provide help here!), and make sure they stay calm, safe, and happy. Basically, you’re their advocate and hype person!
Attend our adoption events and help handle, transport, and care for our foster dogs at the events, speak to potential adopters about our foster animals, collect donations and support merch sales, among other needs. Adoption events are usually on Saturdays and Sundays across the DMV area.
Marketing & Communication
Write creative animal profiles for our website to help our foster animals find their fur-ever homes.
Develop and implement strategies to connect our organization with the community, enhancing our visibility and engagement. This role involves building relationships, managing communications with volunteers, supporters and the public, and promoting the organization’s mission and programs.
Write and schedule social media posts on both Facebook and IG.
Use Canva to create content for our social media, newsletter, website and other needs.
This person will help compile content and mail out our monthly newsletter, plus additional updates as needed. This is a key role that will help us highlight adoptable animals, events, and fundraisers! Newsletter experience is not required if you’re willing to learn, but strong writing skills are a must! Fully remote.
Use your creativity to create artwork that visually represents our organization, our values and our mission. This role requires access to design software and technical proficiency in the software.
Help run our online store!
Use your creative license to create engaging videos for our various needs. This role requires access to and proficiency in video editing software.
Training &
Exercise
Conduct behavioral assessments for foster dogs, dogs in adopted homes and train foster dogs and adopted dogs as needed.
Help our foster dogs by giving a mid-day walk
Driving
Animal transport to foster homes, events, and vet appointments
Transport supplies to fosters
