Spay/Neuter
Some residents may qualify for free spay/neuter assistance.  The PGSPCA may be able to give you a low-cost referral to a private veterinarian. Call (301) 262-5625 and leave a message in Box #6.

Vaccination
The PGSPCA offers monthly low-cost vaccination clinics for:

  • Rabies ($10)
  • Distemper ($10)
  • Microchipping ($25)

These services are usually offered on the first Sunday of every month, 1pm to 3pm. During the summer (July-September), the clinic runs from 11am to 1pm. Check their calendar for clinic dates at: http://www.pgspca.org/clinic/services/

Animal Welfare League of Alexandria 

The League and 20 area veterinary clinics have created a reduced-­cost spay/neuter program. To participate, pet owners should go to the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter, review the list of participating veterinary clinics and the costs associated with the surgery and then purchase a spay/neuter certificate from the League in advance of making the appointment for the pet’s surgery. No restrictions on income.
